Hyderabad
It is already known that the Gaddiannaram fruit market, which is the largest and oldest fruit market in the city, has been shifted to Batasingaram temporarily. Now, the state government has announced that a super-speciality hospital will come up in the place where the fruit market once stood.
Already, the state ministers and MIM legislators had decided that the Batasingaram market would be a temporary halt for the fruit market. And now, the news is that chief minister KCR will be laying the foundation stone for the proposed hospital soon.
Agriculture minister S Niranjan Reddy inspected Victoria Playground and Batasingaram along with ministers Mahmood Ali and Sabita Indira Reddy and announced that the fruit market would be shifted there. The minister also announced that the operations would begin at Batasingaram from Dasara onwards, and the state government has decided to develop the fruit market spread across 178 acres at Koheda with all facilities very soon.
As for Batasingaram, Reddy said that given its proximity to ORR, Batasingaram would be a feasible option for fruit farmers and traders bringing in fruit to the market from all corners of the state. Though Victoria Playground was the initial pick for the shift, the government chose Batasingaram due to this reason.
