After being faced with severe criticism, the Enforcement, Vigilance, and Disaster Management (EVDM) of GHMC slapped fines on Ministers Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Ch Malla Reddy, Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi, MLAs Danam Nagender, Kaleru Venkatesh, TRS general secretary M Krishna Rao, and several other TRS leaders.
They were penalized for putting up banners, flexes, flags, and cutouts of Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao all over the city during the 20th TRS plenary held last Monday. The fines that were imposed ranged from Rs 5,000 to Rs 2 lakh. The highest fine of Rs 2 lakh was slapped against R Sujatha Nagender Yadav of Nallagandla for erecting an unauthorized element above 15 feet in height at HiTec City Road, Kondapur.
The Central Enforcement Cell (CEC) has disappeared from Twitter during the Plenary claiming some software issues to raise challans. It is back only after the Plenary is completed. "This is a mere eyewash. The GHMC has allowed the ruckus to happen and then, just penalized the leaders. So, there is a message that the Ruling party has the provision to get off paying fines and doing whatever they feel like. For sure, this provision is not allowed for other parties. It is a shame that even GHMC mayor is involved in this," Venkatesh Kaare, an activist from Gachibowli criticizes.
