Hyderabad
Autos and riding in an auto used to be a nightmare for many Hyderabadis at one point in time. However, today, thanks to cab services, IT professionals and other employees don’t have to rely on autos for their commute. However, many of them still use 'share autos' due to the lack of last-mile connectivity across the city.
If one takes the example of Dulapally, an auto with at least eight passengers is a common sight. While an auto is supposed to accommodate four passengers, the situation is very different from the set rules. People can often be seen hanging from autos on Dulapally road, which is not only narrow but is filled with potholes.
So the big question would be, what is the traffic department doing? Well, the locals say that they are merely limited to taking pictures of autos that are violating the norms. However, though the pictures are taken, no action is taken on the auto wallahs. This has made them more blatant, and they are more than happy to break traffic rules.
The people who commute in them have no choice but to go with the flow. Meanwhile, the locals are demanding that strict action be taken on auto wallahs plying between Dulapally and Kompally.
