The BJP Corporators in GHMC staged a flash protest on Tuesday. They have demanded to convene a council meeting immediately and also release the funds for the wards. A corporator Thokala Srinivas Reddy brought a black spray with him and smeared the color on the GHMC logo.
They also reportedly vandalized the property in the office. Later, they barged into the Mayor and Deputy Mayor offices. They have tied black ribbons and Saffron Flags to the seat where Mayor sits. The staff in the office ran in fear. The security could not stop them. Police entered the scene and arrested them and some of their cadre and took them to Saifabad and Ramgopal Peta Police Station.
GHMC officials lodged a complaint at the Saifabad police station alleging illegal entry into the office as well as nuisance and damage to public property. Police have registered a case and are investigating. Meanwhile, Municipal Minister K Taraka Ramarao condemned the behavior of the BJP corporators and called them 'Godse Bhakts'.
"Some thugs & hooligans of BJP in Hyderabad have vandalised the GHMC office yesterday. I strongly condemn this atrocious behavior. Guess it’s too much to ask Godse Bhakts to behave in a Gandhian manner. Request @CPHydCity to take the strictest action on the vandals as per law," he tweeted on Twitter along with pictures of Tuesday's vandalism.
