Hyderabad
Hyderabad International Airport is on high alert in the wake of the Omicron outbreak. With the Central Government declaring Britain, South Africa, Brazil, Botswana, China, Zimbabwe, Mauritius, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Israel as high-risk countries, the airport staff has made special arrangements for travellers from those countries.
A separate arrival room has been made available for passengers to wait. Special COVID testing booths have been set up for pre-immigration screening. So far, thirteen passengers of these countries have been tested positive for COVID-19 and their samples have been sent for genome testing. All their reports have turned negative for Omicron.
They are being treated in TIMS, Gachibowli. Around 550 passengers have come from these countries to Hyderabad and all of them have been tested negative. They are advised to isolate at home for one week and will have to retest after that if they were to venture out. Meanwhile, the rates of COVID tests have also come down at the airport after citizens complaint to the Health Department.
