India's first Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat and Mrs. Madhulika Rawat, along with 11 other Service personnel died in an unfortunate helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday. There is a sense of gloom in Secunderabad following his Demise. He has been to the city three times since taking over as Army Chief in 2017.
He visited the prestigious College of Defense Management (CDM) in Secunderabad in December 2017. As part of the CDM visit on December 17, he was particularly impressed with the candidates undergoing training in the Higher Defense Management Course (HDMC). On this occasion, he narrated the importance of the Army in national defense and also made several key suggestions on improving the performance of the Army in line with the latest technology.
In 2017, he visited the Dundigal Air Force Academy in the suburbs. He was the chief guest at the 199th Combined Graduation Parade of Pilots Ground Duty Officers.
He visited the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME) in December 2018. He was the chief guest at the 99th MCEME Graduation Ceremony on December 14 in Tirumalagiri. On this occasion, military officers who successfully completed their training at MCEME were presented with degrees and prizes for their outstanding performance.
After 2019, General Bipin Rawat did not visit the Secunderabad military station. However, he attended programs related to the prestigious training institutes here through the webinar.
