This is the distress call of residents of Arunodaya Colony in Madhapur. Their plight is literally saddening, and despite hoards of complaints to the GHMC, their situation remains the same. As one passes around the colony, one can see garbage dumped all over on streets, hanging wires, overflowing sewage pipes, and a lack of proper roads. Added to this, they have an additional problem of stray dogs, which have become a fear factor.
The locals allege that despite various complaints made to the area corporator, nothing has been done to address any of the issues, and though the corporator made many promises before civic polls of 2020, he hasn’t fulfilled any.
According to one resident, the colony has become home to packs of dogs. As there is a GHMC park in the area, the children play on roads and many a time were attacked by angry dogs resulting in several cases of dog bites. Another resident alleges that though GHMC has been building parks, gardens, and open spaces in various colonies, their colony has been left behind and adds that this is a gross injustice.
Another problem occurred recently, due to a short circuit, all the wires, including cable wires hanging on an electric pole, got burnt. The situation is such that no sanitary worker has cleaned the mess till now. Also, it is quite common to see electric, telephone, and cable wires hanging all over the place out here.
The residents say that they have given many letters to the authorities to construct a park for the elderly and children, but all their pleas have fallen on deaf ears.
