Telangana has reported its first Omicron cases in the capital city of Hyderabad. Two cases have surfaced. The first is a 24- year old female of Kenya nationality who arrived at Hyderabad airport on December 12th. The second case is a 23-year old male of Somalia nationality who arrived on the 12th. Both are under treatment.
The Kenyan is from Tolichowki and has been traced and shifted to TIMS - Gaachibowli. Her father and uncle are also positive and have been isolated. The Somalian too is from the Mehdipatnam area and has been isolated. Meanwhile, a transit passenger from West Bengal is also tested positive. He is a seven-year-old boy from West Bengal, who traveled via an International flight to Hyderabad airport.
After he is tested positive for Omicron, the West Bengal officials have been apprised of it and the boy was immediately sent back to Bengal via a domestic flight. Officials say the third case did not cross the Airport premises. Director of Public Health, G Srinivasa Rao assures the public that there is no local transmission of Omicron in Telangana and there is no need for panic.
