Hyderabad
Secunderabad is already known as a retired people’s city. There was a time when it was vibrant with various cultural groups and cant people throwing in the party spirit. But with time and the rapid and exponential development of Hyderabad, Secunderabad has been left out in the race.
The youngsters living in the city complain that there is nothing called nightlife in their part of the world. Worse still, almost all shops, eateries and even petrol bunks shut down by 10.30 to 11 pm. So, if you want to hang out with friends or roam about post 10.30, there is literally no place to chill in our twin city.
The locals complain that Secunderabad has been left behind in the scheme of things. With no big pubs or clubs to boast of, it has some good restaurants and some fancy eateries that have come up in recent times. But the golden rule for the city is – everything is shut down by 10.30 pm.
While the city does have Sindhi Colony, which is quite active throughout the day, everything falls silent by 10.30. In fact, according to the joint police commissioner of Rachakonda Sudheer Babu, shops were given timings at the time of issuing their licenses, and they are bound to abide by the timings.
Both the younger and older lot complain that even to have a cup of chai, they have to come all the way up to Cyberabad. But the worst is that even petrol bunks get closed by 11 with one odd place being open till midnight. This Sudheer Babu attributes to two reasons. He says while they are issued licenses with timings specified, another reason is that many owners shut shop by 10.30, 11.
