High Court has given a crucial ruling pertaining to regulating school fees in Telangana. Hyderabad School Parents Association (HSPA) has been fighting the issue in the courts for around two years. The Government has been delaying the action in one name or the other. The High Court hearing a batch of writ petitions heard Sivaraju Srinivas, appearing for HSPA.
The High Court has questioned the Government why it is not regulating fees in private schools. It has asked why the government is not implementing the report of the Tirupati Rao Committee assigned for the same purpose. The counsel representing the government has sought six weeks time to respond on this issue. The court became serious about it.
"The Government is already sitting on the issue for two and a half years. Now, it is trying to delay further in the name of more time," the lawyer representing HSPA told the court. The High Court finally agreed to give six weeks time but told the Government that it should take a final decision and formulate a policy for the regulation of School Fees within 6 weeks and report to the court.
