Union minister and BJP MP Raosaheb Danve suggested that there should be no objection to "renaming" Hyderabad as Bhagyanagar and other such places. Foreign invaders had changed their original names by hurting the Hindus' sentiments. When Mr. Danve was asked if BJP is planning to rename Hyderabad as Bhagyanagar, he said, "I feel foreign invaders changed the old names (of various places) by hurting the sentiments of Hindus. So in independent India, if we change their names again to respect our feelings, I feel there should be no objection in doing that".Several BJP leaders and the RSS have been demanding to rename the Telangana capital as Bhagyanagar.
