Hyderabad
Hyderabad Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (CDRC) had reprimanded popular Supermarket brand, Dmart for charging carry-bag. Recently, a customer did shopping at Hyderguda Dmart. The staff also charged him Rs. 3.50 was levied. The customer found fault with the practice but Dmart did not agree to remove it.
The man then lodged a complaint with the Hyderabad Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (CDRC). Consumer Commission has given a ruling that if a customer makes any purchase, the business should give a carry bag for free. The consumer commission has warned of action if it is not followed. The commission also clarified that it applies to all bags regardless of they have the business logo or not.
Dmart is ordered to reimburse Rs.3.50 collected from the customer for the carry bag and also ordered to pay Rs.1000 to the Legal Service Center as compensation and another Rs. 1000 for the customer's legal expenses. It has to be seen if the supermarkets, stores, and hypermarkets follow this ruling of the Consumer Commission.
