Hyderabad
Courtesy of the initiatives taken up by the MA&UD (Municipal Administration and Urban Development), Hyderabad has trumped as the city with the maximum number of vertical gardens in India. One of the green practices of vertical gardens under flyovers has seen several of these facilities getting dotted with vertical gardens. In a tweet, MA&UD Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar mentioned that Hyderabad has the maximum number of vertical gardens in Hyderabad.
Arvind Kumar tweeted, "With 79 vertical gardens (on flyover pillars) including ongoing ones on Shaikpet & Owaisi flyover & Bio-diversity junction, Hyderabad now has the largest number of these V gardens when compared with any City in the country. We will make it 100 this coming year." He tagged MA&UD minister KTR also in this tweet.
Apart from increasing the number of vertical gardens, the urban development department has also developed other environmental conservation initiatives. For instance, it has created a space by developing parks equipped with walking tracks under the flyovers in the city. A flyover near LB Nagar's Kamineni Hospital in the eastern part of the city, and Shaikpet Flyover in the western part of the city, currently, are two such facilities.
