By February, the under-construction Narsingi interchange on the ORR (Outer Ring Road) would be ready, while the trumpet-shaped Kokapet interchange would be completed by June 2022. The works are progressing at a rapid pace. The two interchanges were taken up because of the heavy traffic flow at these major locations, and commercial and residential establishments were constructed in the vicinity.
With the interchange at Kokapet, situated 3 km away from the interchange at Financial District, the Telangana government aims to connect the Kokapet layout to Gachibowli, Patancheru, and Shamshabad. The reports suggest that the Kokapet Layout would be connected to the Outer Ring Road through the Narsingi interchange. An access-controlled expressway through the trumpet interchange at Movie Towers will also be built for seamless entry and exit for connectivity towards Shamshabad and Patancheru. The cost of construction is estimated as 65 crores.
Five structures are being built for entry and exit from Outer Ring Road with different radii of curvature for the trumpet-shaped interchange. Whereas the interchange at Kokapet is a single-trumpet, in Ghatkesar, there is a double-trumpet interchange. The reason behind it is to provide hassle-free movement across the highway, while the single-trumpet interchange in Kokapet is to restrict access to Outer Ring Road only. There will be the generation of nine million sqft office space and multi-purpose space in the Kokapet's 530 acres layout resulting in the massive traffic movement; this interchange will ease traffic flow. The works at the interchange at Narsingi are going briskly. Narsingi is located close to Gachibowli and Financial District, witnessing massive developmental works, and is turning into the most preferred residential destination in West Hyderabad.
The Narsingi entry ramp is 681 meters long, while the exit ramp is 768 meters long with a seven-meter carriageway. All the eight culverts have been finished. The HMDA has proposed developing an additional interchange between exits 4 and 5 at Mallampet to the Outer Ring Road and taking up road-widening between Mallampet and Bachupally Bowrampet service road for 6 km.
