On Tuesday, Hyderabad Commissioner of Police CV Anand instructed officers to take strict action against social media harassment, even if it involves NRIs (Non-resident Indians).
Anand said that those abusive trolls harassing people by morphing their pictures and posting them on social media platforms with abusive comments must be dealt with strictness.
Anand expressed the need for a speedy trial, in addition to registering cases against those spreading fake news on Twitter, Facebook, and other social media platforms. With instances of NRIs posting hateful and derogatory posts on social media platforms, the commissioner warned of registering cases against them apart from issuing lookout notices.
Anand said their visas would be revoked, and their passports would be seized as per legal provisions.
