Annapurna Canteens that are aimed at giving subsidized food to the poor for just Five Rupees are effectively implemented in Greater Hyderabad. The Government has set up these dining centers at 373 locations across Greater Hyderabad. Migrant workers, students, bachelors, and small employees are filling their stomachs with these.
During the financial year 2021-22, a meal of five rupees was distributed to 1,76,14,332 people. Thus Annapurna centers are being converted into Annapurna dining halls with all facilities in the face of growing popularity. Sitting Arrangement is made in 32 Annapurna canteens across Greater, officials said on Tuesday. About Rs, 10 lakh was spent on each center zone-wise.
Tables, chairs, fans, and tube lights are provided to illuminate the dining rooms. Washbasins have been set up to clean hands after eating. The government, which launched 8 Annapurna Centers on a pilot basis across GHMC in 2014, has been feeding the poor. So far 7,41,28,577 have been provided with subsidized meals. During the Lockdown, 259 centers were set up to provide free meals to the homeless, migrant workers, and the poor.
