Work from Home culture is back in the IT companies of Hyderabad is tormenting Lakhs of people indirectly dependent on the IT offices. Hyderabad IT industry employs about 10 lakh people indirectly. It is worth noting it is twice the number of 5 lakh employees who are directly dependent on the IT industry. For the past two years, IT employees have been confined to their homes, and companies have stopped awarding contracts to suppliers.
There is massive indirect employment in logistics, canteen, office facility management, and housekeeping. As a result, suppliers and subcontractors stopped hiring contract employees in their respective departments. This has led to the loss of employment for temporary employees who are indirectly dependent on the IT sector. These people are all hoping for a work-with the plans of Work from office for IT employees, which is scheduled to start this January.
However, IT companies have again postponed their work-from-office program due to the recent outbreak of the Coronavirus cases with the Omicron variant. The government which has pressurized companies and convinced them to bring the employees to the offices is also in two minds now. Industry experts say the confidence of the employees got crashed again and it is not easy to bring them to offices in the near future.
