The move is a sigh of relief for many amid the Covid-19 third wave.&nbsp;Dr. Roseline said she treats 15 patients per day here and also provides lab facilities at a discount of 50%. The organizers approached her with the idea of serving the needy.The clinic is located at the Ambedkar Bhavan in Neredmet.The organizer, Gopal, said that he and his friend Naresh have an organization and started this hospital with the name "10 rupees clinic."Gopal said that apart from medicines, several patients spend Rs 200 to Rs 300 on the doctors. So to help the poor people of that area, his organization decided to start this clinic and approached Dr. Roseline, to which she readily agreed.The organizers are currently planning on expansion, including providing services like dermatology, gynecology, and ENT.

The city has still not recovered from the shock of Jubilee Hills’ gang rape incident, and now there are reports about yet another rape case. In a rather disturbing development, a minor girl of 11 years was kidnapped by a cab driver and violated under the Moghulpura police station limits.An 11-yr-old girl was walking on the road in the Sultanshahi area when a cab driver offered to give her a lift to her house. Though the girl initially refused, he sweet-talked her into getting into the cab. She was then taken to Kondurg in the Rangareddy district. He then dropped her back at Sultanshahi the next day morning.When the girl reached home, her concerned parents filed a police complaint. Based on it, the cab driver named Lukman and his two associates were arrested. The police are now trying to find out if the girl was violated, along with details of who gave accommodation to Lukman and his associates in Kondurg.Jubilee Hills’ gang rape case was another assault on a teenager who went to a pub with her friend. The 17-yr-old went to a pub along with a friend who left the place early. Later, the assaulted girl made friends with a boy and left the pub with him and his friends. Later, the group went to a pastry shop, following which the boys, all in Class 11 and 12, drove her to a posh area of Jubilee Hills and gang raped her in the car by taking turns while the others stood guard outside.The police have already arrested Sadudin Malik and three others, while one is still absconding. While there have been reports that one happens to be the son of an AIMIM MLA, the police maintain that he was not directly involved in gang rape as he ran away from the scene. West Zone DCP Joel Davis said the accused were being produced before a juvenile court for safe custody. The police have grabbed call data and CCTV footage that corroborate the victim’s version.

A melodica is not a well-known instrument among the general public, though it is known in the music world. Also, it is not very popular in the Indian music scene. Yet, this hand-held free-reed instrument has been in use since it was conceptualized in 1950.Twenty-year-old NSR Sankalp took to melodica some six months back, and music lovers are taking note of this new sound. Sankalp says he started playing the keyboard 13 years back and eventually discovered the melodica.“I wanted to emulate the sound of an accordion, and since I like playing songs with varying dynamics, I found the melodica’s sound closest as it allows me to do that via breathing,” says Sankalp. He says he saw it being played on television and asked his father to buy one and has been attached to it ever since.Sankalp happens to be a student of Saraswathi Sangeetha Nritya Sikshanalayam; he learned piano from his teacher Sakshit. He learned western classical music from him and learned Carnatic vocals from Prathima Sashidar, who heads the institute and is pursuing a diploma in the same.He is also pursuing his CA and is all set to graduate next month. As far as music goes, he is in Grade 6 in piano from the Trinity College of London. He says his main passion is to play different melodies than giving performances. Sankalp adds that he plays melodica at the weekly bhajans held by the Satya Seva organization.While he idolizes Stephen Devassy when it comes to piano, he says melodica cannot be restricted to Indian or Western Jazz. He further adds that the emergence of Telugu bands could help in popularising melodica in days to come.

This clearly shows a situation that can cause major traffic accidents. Ironically, the traffic police only flash amber lights at night.It is a huge threat, say commuters. One regular who goes back home after work says he is pretty scared he might get killed or handicapped if some speeding vehicle comes from the back and crashes into his vehicle. Similarly, another person who works in Jubilee Hills and goes to Kharkhana says she was almost dead three times when she missed accidents by sheer luck.Many want better rules for night traffic as it becomes doubly dangerous. According to research done by BITS, Hyderabad, a large number of major accidents happen between 9 pm, and 3 am as there is a movement of heavy vehicles in the city.They suggested that there must be ample illumination at roadway stretches and provision for a safe pedestrian crossing facility at intersections. Meanwhile, the joint commissioner of Hyderabad traffic police, AV Ranganath, says officials have been turning off signals at night. Fixed and working traffic signals might cause inconvenience to commuters during the night, he says.However, he further adds that ITMS or Intelligent Traffic Management System will resolve issues from July 31. AI-based technology will do away with manual intervention and will access traffic intensity, and the traffic lights will work on that basis. The cameras will also gauge vehicular movements and pedestrian movements, which will reduce the burden on traffic police, he says.

Today, we have women doing all jobs that their male counterparts do, and one such shining example is that of Sirisha. She is the assistant electrician at the Taj Krishna hotel in Banjara Hills.Life was a tough ride for Sirisha. Their family, the daughter of an auto driver, hit hard times in 2016, and from a bad situation, they went on to a worse situation. During that time, her brother started working, but that did not help much either. So, to support him, Sirisha decided to take up a course. So, she completed a diploma in electrical engineering and started looking for a job.And it was during this phase, that one of her friends told her about TATA Strive. However, getting trained was no easy task. She had to travel 70kms daily, and her relatives felt immense pressure to stop her from going ahead. But her father supported her, and she joined the AE course. Now, she is the assistant electrician at Taj Krishna.After the family’s position stabilized thanks to Sirisha’s job, they managed to buy a house of their own in Nagole. But Sirisha has bigger plans for herself. She is presently pursuing a B.Tech from Arjun College of Technology and Sciences for the past two years. Soon, Sirisha hopes to become the hotel's head of the electrical department.

An Unchartered Path Opened by a Wish

The sales of luxury properties worth Rs 1 crore and above have been the highest in Hyderabad during Q1 of 2022. The share of total sales for luxury residential sales was recorded at 32 percent in the quarter during Q1 2022, which was the highest growth when it came to southern cities.According to Knight Frank, Hyderabad registered a luxury property sale of 2211 units in Q1 2022. Consumers in this segment were less impacted by the pandemic and participated in strength in the purchase of properties.Incidentally, the share of total sales for luxury residential sales in Bengaluru was 20 percent, and Chennai was 17 percent. “Sales volumes have recovered dramatically from their pandemic lows, and this revival has been most apparent in housing units priced over Rs 1 crore. While the share of this ticket size in overall sales stands at 25 percent as of Q1 2022 for India, that of Hyderabad is at a much higher 32 percent during the same period,” shares Vivek Rathi, director of research at Knight Frank, India.He adds that since the share of this segment increased from 28 percent in Q1 2021 to 32 percent currently, home buyer demand is only strengthening the ticket size.

Dancing is a natural thing these days, and even those who are scared of dancing make up for it by going to Zumba classes. However, how does it feel to balance your torso on a single arm while your legs move in continuous circles? For David Jerome, it took one and half years of dedication and practice to get this move, known as Flare, right.Breakdance, or breaking, as it’s now referred to, is a form of dance, and those who pursue it are called breakers or B-boy or B-girl. While it originated in the ’70s, you can understand it is both a challenging and gravity-defying dance form that is surely more than just dance.In the tradition, the breakers go by different stage names, and Jerome is known as ‘B-boy Shadow.’ The word shadow comes from the lyrics of his favorite song, Beggin, by the Norwegian musical duo – Madcon.Jerome was not drawn to dance naturally. It was when he saw his sister and her crew called ‘Proximity’ practice breaking that he was drawn towards this physically demanding dance form. He says when he makes his moves, he feels like a superhero. He is now part of Proximity and is part of multiple events representing the crew.The now popular breaker learned his moves from YouTube videos and confessed that he watched them time and again an innumerable number of times way back in 2011. And to do his bit for breaking, Jerome works in a corporate company and also teaches those interested and those who have the right moves. After winning several times in the city and around the country, he says he wants to compete in more ciphers and win them.The city in total has only three breaking events – Blame it on the Boogie, Cypher Hours and Spit your Game. The 11th edition of Cypher Hours will be hosted on June 25 and June 26.

Breaking the New-age Norms

Nikhat Zareen is a world-class boxer. But way back in 2014, she went to renowned boxing coach Emani Chiranjeevi and trained hard with him for two years. Though he retired in 2006 from active coaching, Chiranjeevi’s students have done well in their jobs, and Nikhat Zareen went on to win the All India University medal in 2016.While not his students have been on the world stage, many of them have done well at the national level, and Chiranjeevi is proud that most of them landed good jobs. He also trained boxers from other states who too went to settle down in good jobs, he says with a glint of happiness.He recollects how Hyderabad had a lot of boxers during the 1980s and 1990s. While many of them settled down in railways, he rues that the popularity of the sport suddenly went down due to some reasons. After retiring from active boxing, Chiranjeevi started coaching in Chennai before moving to Hyderabad in 1984, where he joined Osmania University. He guided the team to the gold in the All India Inter-University games twice in a span of four years. “Around 18 students won medals at the All India University level. It was very satisfying,” he says with a smile.After his stint with OU till 1988, he was appointed national coach for team India. He took the boxing teams to Asian Games and SAF Games. Though he retired in 2006, he coached kids at the Nizam College and Artillery Centre, Golconda, which was very satisfying, he reminisces.Chiranjeevi shares that he is happy that he can still do what he is doing at 77 and is presently coaching Telangana Social Welfare Residential School kids at Narsingi. Though there was a break due to the pandemic, Chiranjeevi says he has identified four to five kids who he wants to train for the future. “Effort is key to success. Boxing is an art of self-defense. For any sport, physical and mental state is crucial,” he concludes.

77-Year-Boxer Who Never Tires of Coaching

One can hardly miss all the infrastructure projects that have been taken up to make the city future-ready while retaining its charm and flavor. The civic bodies have taken up various measures to ensure that a variety of issues were addressed and life became easier for citizens.To begin with, the entire labyrinth of small and narrow roads has been replaced with wider, two-lane roads in most instances. To address the issue of stormwater drains, Hyderabad got its exclusive disaster response force (DRF). Hyderabad Sprucing Up to Be a City of Future

Sir Salar Jung, I might sound a little alien, but just about every Hyderabadi and anyone who has heard of Hyderabad would be aware of the Salar Jung Museum. Incidentally, Sir Salar Jung was one of the most popular prime ministers of native states and was known to be the enigmatic prime minister of Hyderabad state (1853 to 1883), who served for three long decades under three successive Nizams.He was named the greatest prime minister of any state in British India. His period came to be known as the Age of Salar Jung in the history of Hyderabad dominions. And in recognition of his services, the then government of India 1871 bestowed the title of ‘Grand Commander of the Star of India.’Salar Jung incidentally undertook a visit to England and went to Italy and France en route. Though he had a leg twist and was suggested two weeks of bed rest in Paris, he spent the time meeting a variety of people who heard about the riches of Hyderabad state and wanted to work for the Nizam, right from tailors to jewelers to hat makers and the like.Finally, on reaching England, he had the fortune to meet Queen Victoria herself and dined with her at Buckingham Palace, where only royals are invited. His time in England was totally busy, and he met the who’s who of the royal lineage and dined with most of them. Also, Oxford University conferred the DCL or Doctor of Civil Law on him.However, Salar Jung also brought about remarkable changes in Hyderabad by introducing Western etiquette, and he also took up reforms that included reorganization of the police and judicial system and construction of the first rail and Telegraph network.In 1854, he established Darul-Uloom College and Madarsa Aliya, which opened doors for modern education in India. His daughter Amat-uz-Zehra was married to Nizam Mahboob Ali, and their son was Mir Osman Ali Khan, who was the last of the Nizams.Sir Salar Jung was born on January 21, 1829, and died on February 8, 1883.

The decision to introduce a bullet train corridor between Hyderabad and Bengaluru has been taken by the higher officials of the Indian railway.&nbsp;Eight Bullet train corridors have already been announced by the Indian Railways. The first phase of this plan is being carried out to launch a bullet train between Bombay-Ahmedabad. In such a manner, a point-by-point project report has been developed, and actions are being made to secure the lands for this venture.Meanwhile, plans are being given final touches for other bullet train passages like Mumbai-Hyderabad, Varanasi-Delhi, Chennai-Mysore,&nbsp; Varanasi-Howrah, and Delhi-Amritsar.Keeping in view the future requirements of the public, the Indian railways have decided to introduce the Hyderabad Bengaluru bullet train corridor as well.
