The three-day International Kite and Sweet Festival in Hyderabad has been canceled for the second consecutive year amid a rapid surge in the Covid-19 cases. The event was scheduled between January 14 and 16 at the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad. The government has ordered to ban rallies, public gatherings, and meetings related to political, religious, and cultural activities.
During Makar Sankranthi, the kite festival is being organized by the Tourism Department since 2016. National and international kite flyers from several parts of the world are invited to the event.
The department also added a sweet festival in 2018 to popularise traditional sweets prepared in different states.
The All India Industrial Exhibition Society, known as Numaish, has also been postponed indefinitely. The 45-day yearly exhibition, which was inaugurated on 1st January, was supposed to be held till 15th February.
