Hyderabad
The fire department and police have completed a preliminary investigation into the fire accident at Secunderabad Club. Authorities say the fire began on the first floor of the building around 3 AM on Sunday. The interior design of the building was made mostly of wood and the flames spread rapidly due to the presence of liquor bottles in it.
Authorities believe the fire could have been caused by a short circuit due to fluctuations in power supply due to heavy rains in the city. Police initially identified the computers and laptops on the first floor as short-circuited since they were not shut down running. The Maredpally police have written to the fire and power department officials to reveal the cause of the accident.
The police investigation will continue even faster once those reports are received. As of now, there is no evidence of foul play. In this context, the police will once again examine the scene with the reports of these two departments. Evidence already collected by the police clues team has also been sent to FSL. The damage is expected to be up to Rs 14 crore.
On the other hand, the investigation by the fire department revealed that the club did not have a NOC related to fire safety. Fire department officials said they would register a case to that extent. Papaya, the regional director of the fire department, also said that the club also found that the fire extinguishers were not in good condition which delayed the fire extinguishing operation.
