The state government has decided to upgrade Koti Women's College as the first women's university in Telangana as it prepares for its centenary celebrations. Education Minister Sabitha Indrareddy has directed the concerned authorities to prepare proposals to this effect.
Sabitha Indrareddy held a review with education department officials in her office on the issue of making Women's College a women's university. Koti Women's College, currently affiliated with Osmania University, is NAC accredited along with UGC Autonomous. The minister said the government intends to convert it into a university as it has all the qualifications required to be converted into a university.
Minister Sabita Indrareddy sought a study and report be prepared on the teaching facilities, facilities for students, infrastructure, etc. required if the Women's College is to be converted into a university as per the directions of the Chief Minister. At present, there are 4,159 students studying in the college. Authorities were instructed to design courses to teach advanced courses at this women’s university.
