Hyderabad
There is tremendous pressure on primary health care centers, government hospitals, community health care centers, area hospitals, district hospitals, and tertiary hospitals, as there has been a constant rise in the number of COVID cases across the state and in Hyderabad. One can see long queues in front of these facilities and there is a huge rush to get COVID tests done. In fact, the number of cases with various ailments has increased in the State and with most of them testing positive for COVID, there is a heavy burden on the medical fraternity who are overworked.
Huge crowds have been seen at various basti dawakhanas and all government-run or government-aligned hospitals and dispensaries for the past few days. The doctors are checking patients and giving medicines as per the condition of the patient. However, as the intensity of the virus is increasing, many visiting such centers are barely following any COVID protocols. Many are not wearing masks, using sanitizers, or maintaining physical distancing at these hospitals and dispensaries.
One can see people falling on each other at PHCs and those without COVID symptoms are at risk of contracting the virus due to such irresponsible behavior. Dr. K Shankar, superintendent of Fever Hospital, says that one has to abide by COVID guidelines, and refraining to do so will infect others. The ones who have tests done will show the symptoms within two to three days and they must self isolate and consult a general physician.
Meanwhile, cases of cough, cold and sore throat have increased manifold in the state. So far, the state has conducted about 3 crores RT-PCR and Rapid Antigen Test Kits. The government still has a stock of 2.98 lakh kits of RT-PCR and 39.29 lakh kits of Rapid Antigen Test.
