Hyderabad
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is all set to introduce the budget on Tuesday. Several projects are waiting for the Union Government's nod and some pending projects need funds to be completed. Officials are hoping for allocation of funds to the bullet train works to Hyderabad. If this happens, in another ten to 15 years, there will be a high-speed train from the city to Mumbai, the financial capital.
Members of Parliament from Telugu states and leaders of various trade unions have been urging the central government for some time to sanction a bullet train from Hyderabad to Mumbai. The same issue was brought to the attention of Gajanan Mallya, then General Manager, South Central Railway, at a special meeting with MPs of the two states four months ago. Nalgonda MP Uttam Kumar Reddy spoke strongly on the issue. The Center has already started construction of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor in April 2020. Against this backdrop, hopes are rising for a bullet train to Hyderabad. If it becomes available, it will be possible to reach Mumbai, which is 650 km away, in just 3.30 hours.
Officials are also looking for Local train services to Yadagiri Lakshminarasimha Swamy temple. As part of the second phase of MMTS, it was decided in 2012 to undertake doubling and electrification of 33 km from Secunderabad to Raigiri Railway Station. To this end, railway officials have estimated work in 2016 at Rs 330 crore. To date, it has not materialized. The estimated cost in 2018 has reached Rs 414 crore.
