Hyderabad
In Hyderabad, the traffic police have started cracking down on road accidents at night. The police have found that over-speed is the cause of most accidents. Accordingly, steps are being taken to curb the speed of motorists. As part of this, it was decided to install speed laser guns in different areas. Based on this, information on fast-moving vehicles will be collected and legal action will be taken against the culprits.
City Traffic Joint Commissioner of Police AV Ranganath reviewed the modalities with police officers and staff. He instructed staff on how to estimate vehicle speed with speed guns, etc. Speed guns will be set up in selected areas of the city from the first week of February. A study conducted by the traffic police over the years has come to the conclusion that controlling speeding can prevent accidents.
