Students at St. Martin's College have unveiled a hybrid bike to reach destinations with the help of a battery in such conditions. Students of St. Martin's College of Engineering in Doolapally have been recognized nationally for their latest innovation.Students from St. Martin's College of Engineering recently showcased their talents at the national level "Innovation and Technical Expo-22" at Osmania University. The mechanical students of the college have successfully experimented with a new battery device that allows the vehicle to reach its destination with the help of a battery as soon as it runs out of petrol.The battery gets charged when the bike runs on petrol. The students won first place at the national level and got Rs. 8,000 cash prize. College Chairman Marri Lakshmareddy along with Executive Director G. Chandrasekhar Yadav and College Principal Dr. P. Santosh Kumar congratulated the students and wished they achieve more success in the future.

Hyderabad has now emerged into a city where there is a lot happening in terms of arts, culture, and of course, food. As of now, one thing that has caught the attention of the art community and art lovers is flow art. In fact, there is a thriving flow art community in the city, thanks to the increasing number of connoisseurs.It is a kind of movement-based art form that integrates dance and creative exploration of movement with skillful prop manipulation. The movements include the likes of hula hooping, juggling, and fire spinning, among others. The community has made KBR Park its home, and if one takes a walk at the Park on Sundays, then you are bound to see them in their 'act.'There are quite a few artists for this nouvelle form of art, and we will be mentioning a few regulars here. One person happens to be Bhoomika Perti, social media marketing manager at Sacred Earth Cafe in Madhapur. She feels flow art is a type of body movement with the use of different props. She says it's all about living in the moment and trying to create different movements and flowing with different props. She uses a hoop and dapostar (a fun cloth spinning prop originating from Spain).The physical activity is a mind and body coordination routine where one trains the mind with different flexible movements. That's the whole idea of flow art. Bhoomika says these practices are grounding and reduce stress.Flow art artists use various props like a stick, fire poi, or juggling sticks. Then there is Kavya, another flow artiste who happens to be an account manager, who pushed herself out of a low phase by hooping. Though self-taught, she eventually got to know about the flow art community in Hyderabad and got associated with it. Another artiste Vinay Ameda who co-owns a supermarket, uses fire poi as his prop. He says there was a time when people knew nothing about flow art. But now, there is a lot of awareness, he shares.

Beware and think before you take any action. The summer temperatures are on the rise, and so are the number of incidents when snakes were spotted around the city. These slithery creatures come out of their burrows when the temperatures rise, and that’s the reason why they are spotted all around.Surprisingly, snake rescuers from the city say that many snakes they had rescued were from densely populated areas. Of course, there have been quite a few sightings on the periphery. The Friends of Snakes Society (FOSS), an NGO working for the conservation of snakes in India, has shared that it has rescued around 600 snakes in February. Incidentally, the number went up to 800 by March.In April alone, more than 800 snakes were rescued. And the numbers only grew in April and May as compared to February. Also, one needs to know that the season is breeding season for two varieties of snakes in India. One happens to be the Indian cobra or the spectacled cobra and the rat snake.However, FOSS members say that the number of SOS calls would come down gradually in May. They share that outside temperature is an indicator for the snakes to breed. While the breeding period of cobras starts in February and continues till April, the breeding period of rat snakes starts in April and goes on for a month.&nbsp;However, by May, the breeding comes down, and rescue operations too come down.Some things to remember during the summer months – trim ornamental plants for more visibility. Store materials on raised platforms, as they could attract frogs, snakes, rats, and lizards. Also, materials on the ground must be prodded with a stick for safety reasons.

High Heat Brings Out Snakes, Be Aware and Take Care

The Metro Rail project is reeling under losses. Within two years of its inception, the company was dealt with a big blow due to corona. The ridership fell drastically as a result. During the same period, the company had incurred losses of Rs 1,766 crore in 2020-21. Officials, however, sighed as passenger traffic gradually increased from 2021 onwards.At present, 2.5-3 lakh metro trains ply daily, but the losses are still worrying. The loss for the financial year ended March 2021-22 was Rs 1,745 crore. Days before the lockdown, four lakh people used to travel on the metro. With this the company has reached a non-profit stage in terms of operations. Authorities have assumed the project would break even in seven years. Expectations were reversed due to Corona.In 2019-20, passenger tickets worth Rs 598 crore were sold. It was estimated to be in the thousands next year. During the lockdown in 2020, metro trains had to remain at the depot for 169 days. The number of passengers did not cross 2.20 lakh at any resumption stage. As a result, the Metro provided services for only seven months of the year, generating revenue of Rs 346 crore from passengers.In the 2020-21 financial year, metro revenue was only Rs 386 crore, and expenditure was Rs 2152 crore. Of this, the cost of interest payments was Rs 1412 crore. In 2021-22, the average number of daily commuters did not cross 3 lakh, despite running Metro trains throughout the year. This led to a slight increase in revenue. With only Rs 457 crore coming from passenger tickets, and malls, advertising revenue has increased somewhat.Overall, L&amp;T Metro reported a net loss of Rs 1,745 crore for the financial year. Metro officials, however, estimate that the number of daily commuters will reach 5 lakh by June. At present, an average of 2.8 lakh people are traveling daily. That number is gradually increasing. The Rs 59 ticket introduced during the holidays is very popular. The number of passengers is expected to double as IT offices close the work-from-home. The Metro Rail project was built to handle 15 lakh daily commuters. Due to various problems, including the corona, at least 30 percent of it could not be reached.

Then she started making organic bath powders and got the mixes made at her neighborhood mill. However, what sets Sarvani apart is that she and her husband are both full-time corporate employees. But their belief in the organic powders and their enthusiasm to carry forward the legacy of such harmless and soothing powders made her start her micro business. She says she goes by her grandmother’s words – if something is not good to eat, then do not put it on the skin.

With the help of technology, this guy collected the phone number of an actress from the Telugu film industry and started harassing her. He reportedly collected her phone number through an app called Star Makers. He sent obscene messages to the phone number and harassed her.He not only used obscene language but also made occasional phone calls to her, threatening to upload nude photos of her on social media every time she cut him off. The actress was into depression worried about her career and family if the pictures really come out. She remained silent worried about her career if things like this came out.&nbsp;However, as his harassment intensified, she reached out to the SHE teams of the Hyderabad police with a complaint. They traced his number and arrested him. SHE teams appeal to women to reach out to them in such instances. "If you are worried about revealing your identity, we will also take anonymous complaints," they assured. Only in the months of March and April, SHE teams have got 355 such complaints, the department reveals.

MA&amp;UD minister KT Rama Rao will be inaugurating the newly completed 5 Foot-over-Bridges (FoBs) soon. Once open, the bridges will help pedestrians cross roads without the hassle of facing speeding traffic, thus avoiding road accidents.Following requests from Hyderabad and Cyberabad police commissionerates, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) took up the construction of 22 FoBs at major junctions that were identified as accident-prone zones.The five completed FoBs are situated near Hyderabad Central in Punjagutta, St Ann’s High School in Secunderabad, Neredmet bus stop, Swapna theatre in Rajendra Nagar, and near NSSK High School in Ferozguda.For all the five FoBs, works on walkways, staircase erection, roof sheeting, mild steel railing, the crash barrier, and flooring were completed. Lifts and escalators were also installed, with the costs adding up to Rs 16 crore.GHMC Engineer-in-Chief Mohd Ziauddin shares that GHMC took up the project to safely help pedestrians cross the roads. The FoBs would help pedestrians circumvent the streets completely, especially in busy areas with markets and malls, he adds.The state government has opted for a public-private partnership (PPP) agreement to build these as it is against the exploitation of FoBs through advertisements. Various departments have been asked to build FoBs from their budget as advertisements would make FoBs uglier.

Hyderabad Gets 5 New Foot-over-Bridges

The RTC has made midnight services available under the name Night Riders. After 12.15, special trips are being conducted on Route 219 (Secunderabad - Patancheru) on an experimental basis. The RTC hopes to run Night Riders buses on more routes depending on the demand. Usually, RTC's last service departs at 10 PM and by midnight, the buses go to the depots.RTC is planning another shift from 10 PM to 4 AM. This will be helpful for employees working Night shifts and for all those who want to enjoy the nightlife in the city. These services will also cut down the dependence on unreliable cab facilities at night. The charges in these times will be high. Passes will be valid on these buses.Greater RTC ED Yadagiri, however, said that bus pass users must show their identity cards along with the pass. If you do not have an ID card, you need to take a ticket. Bus pass users traveling without an ID card will be fined Rs 500. Based on a survey by depot managers, RTC is planning to run these buses from Hayathnagar to Patancheru, and other high-density routes such as Mehdipatnam to Uppal X Road and Koti to Lingampally via Mehdipatnam

RTC To Start Night Riders In Hyderabad

The Union Budget 2022 tabled in the Parliament the other day has given a raw deal for Hyderabad. The Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) Department has sent various proposals worth Rs 7,778 Crore towards some projects. But there are zero allocations for any Hyderabad-specific projects in the budget.In the letter written to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, MAUD Minister KT Ramarao mentioned that the state government is taking up various projects worth Rs 48,634 crore and sought Rs 7,778 crore as Central Government's contribution or assistance. But then, the Budget does not even make any mention of the projects.These projects include the Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS), Strategic Road Development Programme, Strategic Nala Development Programme, missing link roads, Sewerage Treatment Plants (STPs), Warangal Metro Neo Project, and others. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao lambasted the budget in a Pressmeet on Monday calling it a short-sighted budget.
