The government is pleased with the good response it is getting from people in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, and it has decided to set up 27 new dawakhanas in the city.
According to the civic body officials, the original plan was to open a total of 300 basti dawakhanas, two in each division within GHMC limits. So far, 256 have already been opened. The dawakhanas are being set up in community halls and ward offices in residential areas.
Several facilities are being provided, like outpatient, health check-ups. Medicines are also being provided at these centers. Following the pandemic, the need for public health centers has increased with people suffering from various ailments due to pandemic or post-pandemic.
Such dawakhanas provide the ordinary man some respite from costly private hospitals and also reinforce the government’s commitment to health for all.
