The state government has won a crucial legal battle in the case of Manikonda Jagir lands. The Supreme Court clarified that 1654.32 acres of land in the area belongs to the state government. The Supreme Court has recently ruled in favor of the state government, setting aside a previous High Court judgment.
The Supreme Court overturned the High Court's judgment in favor of the Waqf Board given on April 3, 2012, A bench of justice Hemant Gupta passed the 156-page order. The court also ordered to clear the pending payments for Inam lands if any in six months. The court also clarified that the Waqf board can not act arbitrarily in the issue of taking over the lands.
"If you consider the lands as yours you should give notices and survey details to the Government with proofs," the Supreme Court ruled. The counsel representing the Government admitted to the court that the Government will pay 50,000 Crore of Waqf board proves that the lands belong to them.
