IT companies in Hyderabad are preparing to call back employees to their offices as the Telangana Public Health Director declared that the third wave of COVID-19 is over. The companies may soon put an end to the work-from-home strategy and are also planning to open full-fledged offices soon.
In January this year, IT companies wanted to call employees back to their offices, but with the advent of the Omicron variant, employees were once again limited to work from home. Some companies which started calling employees in batches adopted WFH completely with the onset of Omicron. Meanwhile, there are reports that Government is exerting pressure on the companies.
The Government wants companies to open to 100% unlike in batches previously. "Confidence in employees can only be infused when the companies operate at 100%. Only that way normalcy can be restored. The waves may continue to come and if Work from Office is planned in batches, it can never happen. So, the Government wants the complete to call their entire workforce to the office at a time and immediately," a source in the Government told us.
Telangana Government is of the opinion that the economy can be back on its feet only when the WFH system will go. So, it is exerting pressure on the companies. But then, companies are not so keen to take risks because the workflow is not disturbed even with this model.
