It was a huge relief for Bhaskar Rao, a resident of Narsapuram, West Godavari after the team of urologists from Kamineni Hospitals in LB Nagar removed a tumor the size of papaya from his right kidney. The 64-year-old male patient lost his right kidney due to the size of the tumor, but he is recovering well post-surgery as he had no pre-surgery complications. The doctors assure his left kidney is functioning well and that his creatinine levels are normal.
The patient had gained belly fat and was experiencing discomfort for over six months. He was also suffering from a dull ache on the right side of his abdomen. Rao had to undergo an ultrasound in which the renal tumor was diagnosed.
He also had to go through a contrast-enhanced CT scan and Doppler ultrasound. The doctors found that he had a huge tumor arising from Rao’s right kidney. The mass was stuck under the surface of the liver and head of the pancreas, duodenum, and colon shares senior urologist Dr. V Vishnu Vardhan and urologist Dr. Amar Kumar who led the surgery.
The right kidney was totally damaged due to the size of the tumor, and the doctors had to remove it through open surgery as the kidney was no longer functional.
