Private job holders in the city are becoming bike drivers for bike aggregator apps. Some of them are even working part-time at companies such as Ola, Uber, and Rapido for extra bucks and some for reducing their fuel expenses. They are doing Pickup and drops while going to the offices in the morning and before arriving in the evening.
Companies are being flexible with the timings and areas of operation which is becoming handy. This is why even those having a job are taking it up as part-time employment. The city has a total of 26,000 bike drivers of which 16,000 are part-time drivers. 7,000 people used to work before the corona. Those who lost their jobs have also taken it up after Corona.
Those working only part-time are making Rs 100 to Rs. 300 while those who work more time are making Rs. 700 to over a thousand rupees. Youth are increasingly showing interest. In addition to the lack of investment, the full demand for bike riders is motivating them and the companies are also offering good offers and commissions.
