Constable B Sravan Kumar, who is from the Punjagutta police station, saved a mother and daughter duo from a burning building risking his life in the process. But the brave constable did not think twice before fulfilling his duty once he got to know of the mishap. He safely brought out the mother and daughter who were caught in a flat in the building engulfed with thick fire.
However, Sravan Kumar is modest and says he merely did his duty as a policeman. He says they are taught time and again that public safety is of utmost importance, and that motivated him to quick action. He is also thankful to his seniors for encouraging them constantly.
On Saturday afternoon, Sravan Kumar was on patrol duty, and he received the information on his wireless set that a residential building was on fire near NFC X Roads. As the location fell under his area, he immediately rushed to the spot.
By the time Sravan Kumar reached the building, it was engulfed in thick smoke, and flames were spreading rapidly. When he heard the screams of a child, he immediately got onto the neighboring building and jumped into the terrace of the building that was on fire.
Once he was on the terrace, Sravan Kumar spotted a water storage tanker, and he immediately toppled it. This led to water entering the building, and most of the fire was put out. This gave him the route to enter the apartment. He shifted the mother and daughter to the next building safely with help from a puncture shop person.
Sravan did not wait for instructions from superiors and immediately jumped into action, saving time. It is learnt that some tyres on the terrace of the building caught fire, leading to the mishap. Later, fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the fire.
