Ulavacharu Restaurant in Gachibowli is booked for overcharging a Golisoda. Into the details, On December 31, Vinay Vangala, social activist and a resident of Hyderabad, had lunch at Ulavacharu restaurant and ordered two bottles of Golisoda. He was shocked to see the price of the Soda on the bill.
He was charged a whopping 178 Rupees + 5% GST for the Soda. He paid the bill but took a photo of it and complained to the Legal Metrology Department. According to his complaint, the department found out that the restaurant is overcharging and is also selling sodas without an MRP rate printed on them.
The Rangareddy District Metrology Officer inspected the Ulavacharu restaurant and registered a case for violating Rule 6 (1) of the Metrology Rule 2011. The authorities say that the restaurant will be penalized as per the law. Social Activist Vinay Vangala said on the occasion that consumers are urged to check the MRP, date of manufacture, and expiry date before making any purchase.
