Hyderabad
GMR Hyderabad Air Cargo (GHAC), which is ranked fifth domestically in air cargo (AirCargo), will soon open an international courier terminal. It is planned in such a way to handle International Express Cargo. Hyderabad has become a hub for pharma exports in South India. Hence the export processing area has been set at controlled temperatures.
A special cool container yard will be made available soon. This makes it Hyderabad Airport's largest online airport base in South Asia in terms of air freight cargo containers. While there were 55 domestic destinations from Hyderabad in 2020, it has increased to 65 by the end of 2021.
Hyderabad, which was the 6th largest cargo hub domestically in 2019, is currently ranked 5th. In 2020, the cargo was 1.11 lakh tonnes. Last year it was 1.35 lakh tonnes. This is 35 percent more than in 2019. "Hyderabad Air Cargo has registered positive growth even during the adverse times. Freight traffic is expected to grow further this year. We are developing the capacity and technology of domestic and international freight terminals to meet the demand for the next ten years, ”said Hyderabad Airport CEO Pradeep Phanikar.
