The 11th Nursery Mela kicked off grandly on Thursday at the People's Plaza on Necklace Road. Nursery managers and plant traders from various parts of the country have set up around 121 stalls. Lots of varieties are available like Flowers, Fruits, Air Purifying Plants, Bonsai, Decoration, Medicinal Plants.
City people queued up for the nursery and took home the plants of their choice. People are eagerly learning about various techniques like vertical gardening, Hydrophonic system, terrace gardening, etc. Bonsai trees, fruits, and flowers from Darjeeling, Kolkata, Delhi, Harayana, Bengaluru, Pune, Shirdi, Chennai, and Kadiyam (of Andhra Pradesh) are big highlights.
The exhibition will be open from 9 am to 9 pm and the entry fee will be Rs 20. The Nursery mela would continue till February 28. "The Mela is getting good crowd already and we are expecting a huge influx this weekend. People are resorting to gardening vexed with their busy lives in the concrete jungle," stall owners say.
