In another ghastly incident towards dogs, a dog with its hands and legs tied was thrown out of a moving car in the Jubilee Hills area recently. Luckily, some locals saw the incident and untied the dog, and called for police help. Finally, the dog was rescued with the help of a police officer.
However, this horrendous act is not just one-of-its-kind. There are many instances when dogs are treated badly, and animal activists say that at least 10 cases are reported daily. There are times when the dogs are ill-treated or sustain multiple fractures for taking shelter in a building. People who try to feed stray dogs are also treated in a disgusting manner.
In one such horrific incident, a dog that had taken shelter in a building was hit badly on the head for four days, and its head had opened, and when it was rescued, about 6000 maggots were found on the wound says one animal rescuer. He also reveals that most cases are seen in Madhapur, Cyber Towers, Gachibowli, and ORR, where people dump their dogs.
Animal rescuers say that many abandon their dogs if they get infected, fearing it would turn into disease, and some leave them when they are expecting a baby. The animal rescuers say that they have also rescued around 200 birds last month that were stuck in Manja. However, about 35 birds died by the time they could reach the place.
Sometimes, strays get their head stuck in plastic bottles, and some remain with the bottles around their neck for days. They say while people do want to help, they do not know the correct way of dealing with them, say, members of Animal Warriors, an animal rescue team.
