Clearing of pending challans with discount scheme started from Tuesday across the state. There has been a special response to the scheme announced by the government. Authorities were clearing about 1,000 pending challans every minute. The server is prepared in a way to handle around 1000 challans per minute.
The system capabilities and bandwidth have been raised 10 times than usual to tackle the rush. The scheme will be applicable until the 31st of this month. The pending challans can be paid online, from Google Pay, Phonepe, Mee Seva, and T Seva Centers said Hyderabad Traffic Joint CP Ranganath. Officials said the decision was taken to acknowledge the plight of financially distressed employees and traders during the Corona period and provide relief to the people of the state.
The department has announced a 75% discount on pending challan for two-wheeler drivers, a 50% discount for cars and large vehicles. No Mask cases have been offered a discount of 90%. In Hyderabad police commissionerate alone, there are over 1.75 crore unpaid challans with more than ₹ 600 crores as penalties. With a discount in place, the State government expects anywhere between ₹500 crores and ₹700 crores in its exchequer.
