Minister for IT and Municipal Administration, K Taraka Ramarao has made it clear that the government is moving forward with a multi-pronged strategy for the Urban development of Hyderabad. Under the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) in the city of Hyderabad, the minister said the government had undertaken 70 projects at a cost of Rs 37,000 crore.
Minister KTR responded to questions raised by members on the work undertaken under the SRDP scheme during the question and answer session in the Legislative Assembly. "Under SRDP, 47 works were carried out with Rs 8,552 crore. For the current year, Rs. 27 works were completed at a cost of 2,497.93 crores. The remaining 20 works, 17 works through GHMC, 3 works through R&B and National Highways department are in progress," the Minister said.
"The urbanization in Hyderabad is going on fast. We are constructing flyovers and underpasses in view of traffic congestion. Bahadurpura flyover will be launched soon. The Owaisi flyover has been made available. We are moving forward with a multifaceted strategy for urban development. The infrastructure development here is going faster than in any other city in the country. Entrepreneurs coming to the state are amazed to see the city. Our roads and schemes are being praised for being awesome," KTR said.
The Minister also revealed the future plans for the city. "In the second phase under SRDP, we are going to set up two flyovers in Khairatabad constituency with an outlay of Rs 450 crore. Development work was underway at Multi-Level Flyover in Karwan constituency and at Fox Sagar in Quthbullapur. A flyover at Bandlaguda in the Charminar Zone, another flyover at the Humor Hotel, and Budwel ROB from Falaknuma at Rajendranagar. ROBs will be set up at Chilkalaguda and Manikeshwari Nagar in Secunderabad. Besides these, more works will be carried out," the Minister revealed.
