Telangana government’s incubator for women entrepreneurs, WE Hub, announced sanctioning of Rs 4.5 crore fund for Startup India Seed Fund Scheme, which will support 13 women-led start-ups. Incidentally, this is the first investment by WE Hub since its inception, and the entire amount will be disbursed in three batches, of which Rs 1.76 crore has been released as the first batch.With the objective of supporting women entrepreneurs who have financial hurdles, WE Hub applied to be an incubator under the Start-up India Seed Fund Scheme by the Government of India. Subsequently, Rs 5 crore was sanctioned to WE Hub under SISFS. While 106 start-ups from 18 states applied for funds, 13 were screened and selected.The start-ups are at various stages of progress – from the prototype stage to commercialization stage. The start-ups that received the funding include Arms4AI, Artfills, Sortizy, Laurik, Nurture Fields, Signel Biomedical, Dygnify. The entrepreneurs were sanctioned Rs 50 lakh each. Abby, Bleu Cares, Cleanseats were sanctioned Rs 20 lakh each; ShuShu Babies and Bludot Robotics were sanctioned Rs 15 lakh each, while Future Step has been given Rs 10 lakh.“Access to finance is the most common challenge that we hear from all the women that we engage with. As a solution, we are creating channels for women entrepreneurs to avail the capital essential at the early growth stage of their enterprises,” shares WE Hub CEO Deepthi Ravula.

WE Hub Dispenses Rs 4.5 Cr to 13 Women-led Start-ups

Development to some can mean a headache to others. Such is the case with the residents of Ramnagar in Hyderabad. The GHMC has proposed to build a steel flyover between Ramnagar and Baghlingampally. The local residents are protesting against the move and say there is no requirement of a flyover as there is very little traffic in the area.The protesting residents maintain that the vehicular flow between Ramnagar and Baghlingampally, even during peak hours, is very low and add that there is no traffic problem. They wonder what the need for a flyover in the area is. Surprisingly, the flyover was designed to end near the RTC Kalyana Mandapam. However, the flyover design changed suddenly, and it will now end near Dr. B R Ambedkar College, which is of no use, they insist.To add to their woes, the GHMC has issued notices to remove some flats and independent houses in the area. The local residents say no one understands why the design was changed or why the flyover extension is being done. However, they are fighting it out together and say they will not tolerate their properties being torn down, the houses they live in that allow GHMC to question their very existence. They say the middle-class and retired employees are becoming victims of the flyover.As of now, GHMC is carrying out steel flyover works at RTC X Roads. The 2.8 mt long steel flyover will be the longest in Hyderabad, and works are progressing at a brisk pace. After finishing works from Indira Park to VST Junction, GHMC will begin the construction of the three-lane bidirectional flyover from Ramnagar to Bagh Lingampally at an estimated cost of Rs 76 crore.

A serial killer who murdered 17 women has been awarded life imprisonment by a court in the Jogulamba-Gadwal district of Telangana. The person Yerukali Srinu (47) was sentenced with regards to the murder of one Chitti Alivelamma (53).Some years back in 2009, Srinu was sentenced when he murdered his own brother. At the time, he was acquitted in 2013 for good conduct in jail. However, out of jail, Srinu once again started drinking and continued with the crimes. After he was released from jail in 2018, he was given a job at a petrol bunk run by the prison department.However, Srinu did not undergo any change, and neither did he have any remorse. Srinu’s wife Salamma was also arrested for stocking the stolen property. Srinu would make friends with women at toddy shops and then take them to open spaces in the name of a picnic.He would then kill them and take the silver and gold ornaments on them. Though the body of Chitti Alivelamma was found in December 2019 in a village near Mahabubnagar, he has been sentenced now.Srinu is said to have targeted women in various places in the Rangareddy district and Mahabubnagar district. Ironically, he has been acquitted in 11 crimes and was acquitted recently in two cases.

Walk into Financial District, and you can see huge cranes working day and night to create a human oasis for newbie home buyers and those looking to invest to reap the benefits of the pandemic incentives.In February, the Samudhura Group announced the construction of a 44-story residential apartment in the financial district at Nanakramguda. SAS Crown went one step further in August and announced a 55-floor skyscraper, making it the tallest residential building in South India.Incidentally, any building with more than 25 floors is considered a skyscraper. And it’s not just national players; even local builders are considering skyscrapers to cater to the new demand. Moreover, many prefer high-rise buildings as it provides them with open spaces.As per GHMC records, from April 2020 to March 2021, 67 hi-rise buildings were approved, of which 23 were for commercial purposes, 40 for residential purposes, and the remaining four for institutional purposes.As skyscrapers are convenient for employees who want homes close to work spaces, realty experts say it makes sense to invest in residential skyscrapers as they command a premium price vis-a-vis commercial skyscrapers. However, when it comes to office buildings, tall buildings may not be very profitable, say those in the realty sector.

Hyderabad To Be Filled With Skyscrapers

The whole world is more or less adapted to accepting the LGBTQIA+ community. However, there is still taboo against the term ‘Pride,’ and even casual meet and greet meetings by community members are met with hush hush whispers and raised eyebrows.However, given that they are marginalized and a minority, the community needs more spaces for like-minded people, and this is somewhat difficult, though they are now an accepted group. But there is hope and good news for the LGBTQIA+ community in Hyderabad. The restaurants and eateries are working towards helping them have a good time with food, music, privacy, and love.One person who kick-started the trend happens to be Hephzibah Smith, owner of People’s Choice Cafe in Sainikpuri. She shares that her place was specifically started for her community. A bi-sexual, she says she found it difficult to find a safe, quiet yet happening place to chill. That’s when she decided to create one herself. She says straight people are welcome, but she always wanted a place to accept herself and her partner. The cafe will soon be organizing a queer speed-dating event and some drag concerts.Anvesh Alluri, the founder of Aaromale Cafe in Film Nagar, believes every cafe and public space needs to be LGBTQIA-friendly. He says that all spaces must welcome the Pride group and let them be themselves. He says that community participation and involvement are the core that defines them as a creative space, and he reiterates that LGBTQIA+ events are no exception. Anvesh says his restaurant celebrates Pride month on a grand scale and adds that the community likes the fair and equal treatment they get at his restaurant.Anvesh also sensitizes people about the community and helps them become more aware. He says the problem arises as many are socially and economically backward. Similar thoughts are expressed by Dhanesh Sharma, the owner, and chef at Terrassen Cafe in Film Nagar. He says the LGBTQIA+ community should not be left out, and cafes and restaurants should focus on serving people food and not discriminate against anyone.Other restaurant owners, such as Bhoomika Perti of Sacred Earth Cafe in Madhapur, are airing similar thoughts. The LGBTQIA+ community feels it’s important for policies to be more inclusive and widespread sensitization.

Hyderabadi Cafes Embracing Pride Community

An employee kept a cam in the washroom of the office where he works and took photos and videos of female employees. The employee who quit after that has sent a female employee nude pictures of her on her mobile. According to the Banjara Hills police, a 32-year-old woman worked in a boutique in Jubilee Hills and quit in 2021.On February 24 this year, she received a text message on her cell phone. The message, from an unknown number, contained an obscene description of her body parts. On the 20th of this month, nude pictures of her came from the same phone number. She found that they had been taken when she went to the washroom in the boutique where she had previously worked.A complaint was lodged with the Banjara Hills police on Wednesday night against Mithun Das, a West Bengal man who had previously worked as an office boy in the boutique. They have registered a case against the accused under Section 354 of the IPC as well as the IT Act and are investigating. The accused was found to be in the Kolkata area.

To avoid road accidents in Hyderabad city, it is known that the government has recently brought in new rules regarding speed limits. Cars should travel at 60 kmph on major roads while autos &amp; bikes can travel only at 50 kmph. The maximum allowed speed on colony roads is 30 kmph.If you go faster, you will be fined. An official statement on the speed limit was released on Wednesday. However, the speed limit on all flyovers in Hyderabad will be 80 kmph. Until now, the maximum speed allowed on flyovers is only 40 kmph.But vehicles often speed away on flyovers and get hefty challans imposed. That will change from now. At Hospitals and school zones, only 40 kmph is allowed. On all other roads, 60 kmph is allowed on all other roads. The officials will extensively educate the motorists and will start installing speed guns at a few locations in the city for fining the violators.

80 Kmph Speed Allowed On City Flyovers

India has more than 60 of the 100 most polluted cities in the world, according to the latest report. According to the World Air Quality Report 2021 released by Switzerland's IQ Air, pollution levels in Hyderabad have increased in 2021 compared to last year. Delhi tops the list of the six most polluted cities in the country, followed by Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai. As a result, no city in the country can meet the air quality standards.According to the World Air Quality Report 2021, PM 2.5 levels have risen in Hyderabad. These levels have increased from 34.7 in 2020 to 39.4 in 2021. The highest pollution was recorded last December. Exhaust fumes from vehicles cause an increase of 20 to 35 percent in particle matter pollution. The level of pollution is further increasing as the number of people buying vehicles is increasing day by day, the report said.&nbsp;According to the report, 90 percent of the total population in Hyderabad owns up to 60 lakh vehicles. Hyderabad has been plagued by pollutants such as adulterated petrol and diesel, industrial emissions, burning of rubbish, and construction of large buildings. Environmentalists say governments have been failing to control it. Air pollution cannot be controlled unless an action plan is in place.

Hyderabad Becoming Polluted City

Hyderabad’s start-ups incubated at T-Hub are indeed going places. Now, electric ride-sharing platform Hala has announced that it has secured funds to the tune of $1 million led by Magnifiq Securities. The start-up is a 100 percent electric ride-sharing platform that does away with last-mile connectivity problems.The funds will be used to significantly increase the number of electric vehicles, improve infrastructure for swapping, research, and develop new product offerings. Hala happens to be part of T-Hub’s T-Angel program and has achieved a 40 percent raise in Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR). The program also enabled Hala to be investment ready through pitch review, financial projections, valuation certificate, funding need estimation, and equity exchange.“Since the beginning of our operations, Hala has covered 8 million green kilometers saving 717 tonnes of Co2 emissions, saving 300,000 liters of petrol consumption, and doing 32,000 battery swaps a month. We are aiming to create the largest ecosystem for all things EV and are delighted by the support provided by our investor,” shares Hala Mobility founder and CEO Srikanth Reddy.

As most people are greedy enough to fall for lucrative offers, 50 cases pertaining to investment fraud have been booked by the Cyberabad Police this year.Businessmen and techies topped the list of victims, and the irony is that they fell for illiterate gangs operating from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Bengaluru. Cybercrime officials share that in all investment frauds, fraudsters banked on the greed in people, mostly youngsters, IT professionals, home-makers, the elderly, and teenagers, who were lured by the chance of making easy money.In all cases, the fraudsters send links to the victim’s mobile phone with attractive investment schemes, promising quick and high returns. Once the money is collected, they simply vanish into thin air, says Cyberabad Cybercrime Cell ACP G Sridhar.Fraudsters also approach people with a few popular investment schemes that include investments in reputed companies offering 10-20 percent high returns, investments in real estate, bitcoins, and the share market.The modus operandi includes the fraudsters calling the victims with offers to invest in franchises of reputed firms or on gold stocks. They show them profits initially and collect thousands to crores. Once they collect the money, they switch off their mobile phones.The Cyberabad Police is taking petitions from the public at various local police stations and filing criminal cases, and investigating. One can also report at cybercrimes.gov.in (National Cyber Crimes Reporting Portal – NCRP) for quick legal action and also block the flow of money. Investment Bait Fraud of Rs 2.7 Cr in Cyberabad

Its been more than five years since the state government has announced that it will relocate polluting industries between houses to outside of the ORR. But then, it has not materialized to date. With this, people are suffering from the life-threatening pollution emitted through these industries.&nbsp;&nbsp;Jeedimetla, one of the largest industrial hubs in Asia, has about 100 pharma, bulk drugs, and intermediate chemical manufacturing companies. Combined with other industrial estates in the Medchal district, the total is up to 500. Jeedimetla plays a key role in pharma products in the state. Before the establishment of the industrial estate here, the area looked like a forest area.But with the urbanization, Jeedimetla became the center of the city with colonies coming around it. They were allowed without leaving any buffer zone and now that has come as a problem for the people living there. Locals are having a hard time with the water, air, noise, and land pollution of these industries. The situation is similar in Balanagar, Sanath Nagar, Gandhinagar, Uppal, and Bollaram industrial estates.The air and water here are polluted and people are prone to diseases. Digging boreholes in some places reveals the severity as red contaminated water is coming up. There is a situation where windows cannot be opened at night due to pollution. Industry owners claim that moving the existing industry would result in a loss of about 50 percent of its value.&nbsp;And then, they want to have the complete infrastructure in the place of relocation. They claim that it is possible to go if all the facilities like electricity, water, manpower are available. They will be able to shift only if the government gives some aid and show them an area with all the amenities. But there are no suitable places for such situations and people continue to suffer.
