Hyderabad
Clearance of traffic challans is being done expeditiously within the limits of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda Police Commissionerates. 1.2 crore challans were cleared from March 1 to March 20. In this context, Rs. 112.98 crores were deposited the government treasury till 20th. More than 80 percent of the paid challans of the entire state are motorists from Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda commissionerates.
63 lakh challans were cleared within the limits of Hyderabad Police Commissionerate and Rs. 49.6 crore revenue is generated. With the clearance of 38 lakh challans within the limits of Cyberabad, Rs. 45.8 crore revenue has been generated. Sixteen lakh challans were cleared within the limits of Rachakonda Commissionerate and Rs. 15.3 crores were collected.
This facility will be in effect till March 31. Even though the numbers look good, they still fall short of the targets set by the department. The department hopes that more than 75% of the pending challans would be liquidated by the end of March but it looks difficult at this moment. Buzz is that the department may extend the scheme by few more weeks if needed.
