A massive fire broke out in Boiguda in a timber and scrap godown due to a short circuit. Eleven people were trapped in the blaze and burned alive. Locals say the accident happened at around 4 am on Wednesday. Fifteen workers slept in a scrap shop in Boiguda IDH Colony on Tuesday night. A short circuit caused a huge fire. One worker escaped unhurt, and 11 others were trapped in the blaze.
Eleven of them were burned alive. Firefighters with five fire tenders rushed to the scene and brought the blaze under control. Authorities believe the accident's severity was exacerbated by the presence of timber and other material. Firefighters pulled out the bodies of those who died in the crash. Authorities said the dead were migrant laborers from Bihar.
They all hail from Jakkuvu village in Chapra district of Bihar. The deceased have been identified as Sikander (40), Bittu (23), Satyender (35), Golu (28), Damodar (27), Rajesh (25), Dinesh (35), Raju (25), Chintu (27), Deepak (26), and Pankaj (26). The bodies of those who died in the fire were taken to the Gandhi Hospital mortuary.
Residents of Chapra district in Bihar came to the mortuary after learning about the incident. Among them were relatives and friends of the deceased. They requested the state government to support the families of the dead in all possible ways. Minister Talsani Srinivas Yadav said that a full inquiry had been ordered into the fire incident. He inspected the scene and spoke with authorities.
Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh for the kin of those who lost their lives in the accident. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the PM Relief Fund. A case has been registered on the scrap godown owner.
