GHMC Summer Training Camps will resume this year after a two-year hiatus. The GHMC is gearing up to host summer coaching camps from April 25 to May 31. Coaching camps were not conducted as part of the strict regulations and preventive measures of COVID-19 for the last two years. Arrangements are being made for their conduct as the situation is under control at present.
For the past two years, there have been no summer coaching camps and GHMC has been working to improve conditions in the indoor stadiums that host them. Tenders are also being called for the required sports equipment and other equipment. Summer coaching camps have a history of over fifty years and were home to a number of nationally acclaimed players.
There are those who have improved their skills through these training camps. Fifty years ago the first summer training camp began with 15 coaches at six sports on just ten playgrounds. Nearly 1600 students used the camps at the time, and thousands have been using them every year for the past two decades. Hundreds of coaches train in over fifty sports. As in the past, arrangements are being made to conduct summer coaching camps in all zones of the Greater this year.
