It is known that Prime Minister Modi discusses a variety of issues during his monthly radio program ‘Mann ki Baat.’ Much to the delight of the Hyderabad and its twin city Secunderabad, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the restoration work taken up at Bansilalpet step-well by the municipal development and urban administration (MA&UD) department.
The entire restoration work was taken up by MA&UD special chief secretary, Arvind Kumar. He oversaw the entire work related to restoration works of various step-wells across Hyderabad. The GHMC too did its bit by associating with noted social enterprise Rainwater Project to rejuvenate the dead wells.
The step-wells were a pathetic site before restoration with garbage, silt, and debris that got accumulated over the years. First, all that was removed using workers and earthmovers for the rest of the cleaning process. However, there were several other processes involved in cleaning the step-wells, which was a laborious process.
The state government has taken upon the task to restore all the 140 step-wells in and around the city, while some have already been restored. And these include Bhagwandas Bagh Baoli and Shiva Bagh Baoli near Gudimalkapur. In the past, the Prime Minister had lauded the efforts of CSIR-IICT for generating electricity from vegetable waste at Ambedkar Vegetable market in Bowenpally.
