Hyderabad
Prices of the fruits are going to be a lot higher in the holy month of Ramzan. There is a likelihood of fruit prices soaring up to 10%. Already the prices are hiked by around 10% in the last couple of months due shifting of the Kothapet fruit market to Koheda. The demand in Ramzan month will propel another hike.
The wholesale market in Koheda is too far from the city and the fruit sellers have to bear the extra costs of fuel to bring them to the city. Also, the time of transit, loading, and unloading also increases, as a result, the labor charges are also being high. Even the wholesalers are feeling the pinch.
The fruit sellers are pressurizing the government to review its decision to shift the wholesale market but to no use. They are requesting the government to allow wholesale trade of fruits along the wider roads of the city during Ramzan. That way the people will not be burdened with the extra costs.
