Hyderabad
Vaccination of 12-14-year-old children in the state is getting a good response in the districts while in the capital Hyderabad, there are not many takers for the vaccine. Most parents are not inclined or negligent to vaccinate their children. So far, only 46 percent of 12-14-year-olds in the city have received the first dose of the vaccine.
The districts under Hyderabad have a large number of medical personnel. The government utilized them thoroughly and completed the vaccination for adults much faster. But the failure to vaccinate at least half of the children so far has drawn criticism. In the next two months, all educational institutions are preparing to launch full-fledged offline classes. By then, it is important that children completed two doses of vaccination. Vaccination of the 12-14 year age group started on March 16th.
The Telangana government made tall claims of vaccinating all children in this age group within two weeks. Karimnagar, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Jogulamba, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Vanaparthi, and Hanmakonda districts have already succeeded in achieving this. One hundred percent of the children there received the first dose. In many rural districts like Vikarabad (59 percent), Kamareddy (54 percent), Mulugu (49 percent), and Medchal (47 percent), vaccination of children is better than in Hyderabad.
