Tipplers are resorting to the comfort of chilled beer as temperatures are soaring. Since April, the beer sales are soaring while the sales of liquor are on a decline. This is evidenced by the increase in beer sales across the state in the last ten days. The trend is visible clearly in the capital city, Hyderabad as well.
According to official data, there has been an increase in beer sales from April 1 to 10. Sales of beers increased by 20% from April 1 to 10 compared to the same period last year. The temperatures are much milder last year when compared to this year. Ten lakh cases of beers were sold in just ten days.
Last year, at the same time, there had been a sale of 8.3 lakh cases of beer. Other types of alcohol sales declined slightly. Liquor sales, which stood at 6 lakh cases in the first ten days of April 2021, have declined by 13% to 5.14 lakh cases this year, officials said. The officials expect the sales of beer to increase further in the coming days as temperatures are expected to rise further.
