Fisker, a California-based electric vehicle maker in the United States, a rival of Tesla, will begin operations in India. To this end, the company's India headquarters has been set up in Hyderabad. The headquarter called Fisker Science India handles Software development, embedded electronics, machine learning, virtual vehicle development, etc. required for EV vehicles.
The first electric car from Fisker, the Ocean SUV, will commence production in November 2022. This car is expected to give mileage in the range of 402-440 km with a single charge. It is not known if there will be a manufacturing unit of the same in Hyderabad or any part of India.
IT and Industries Minister K Taraka Ramarao met with Fisker representatives during a visit to the US last month and convinced them to set shop in Hyderabad. As a result of these discussions, Fisker set up its office in Hyderabad. The India branch of the company will be called Fisker Vigyan India Pvt Ltd. The investment will create around 200 potential jobs in India. The hiring of local employees is already underway.
