The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has decided to conduct summer camps for children aged between April 25 and May 31. A variety of sports facilities for children aged between six and 16 years of age are being organized.
The entire process will mean an expenditure of Rs 1.42 crore, and as a part of the endeavor, sports equipment has been procured and distributed to the management of the playgrounds where the camps will be organized. The annual activity by the corporation to promote sports is being held after a gap of two years. It goes without saying; no camps were organized in the past two years due to COVID.

Another camp at PIR Stadium, Chandanagar, will be inaugurated on April 28.GHMC has also requested the state government to allow it to hire 131 extra coaches for the camps. At present, there are 78 coaches working for the civic body on a part-time basis. They are available at 12 sports complexes, seven swimming pools, and 521 playgrounds.
