Electric auto services have been launched under the name Metro Ride for Metro commuters. These autos have been made available to reach the destination from the metro station. These are expected to improve last-mile connectivity from the stations. Metro Rail MD NVS Reddy flagged off them at the Parade Ground Metro Station.
Speaking on the occasion, Metro MD NVS Reddy said that the fares in Metro Autos are much lower than in private autos. He said that a loss of Rs 3,000 crore was incurred for the Metro due to Corona. The number of passengers before Corona was 4 lakhs and he clarified that at present 2.7 lakh people are traveling in the metro every day.
He also said that the focus is on the construction of Metro Phase-2. "Metro train services to Shamshabad Airport will be extended in Phase-2. Plans have been drawn up for the construction of Metro Phase-2 at a cost of Rs 5,000 crore. We are also ready to invest further. Anyone could come and participate in this project," NVS Reddy said.
