Srinivas Obulampalli is a fitness freak. As simple and straightforward as it might sound, it is something that describes him the best. At 57, he has a body that is a conversation starter, and he takes his fitness regime quite seriously.
But Srinivas’ obsession with fitness is not a newborn one. He says he started exercising at the age of 20 and has never looked back, barring a couple of times when he met with accidents. Even COVID did not stop him from training daily. In fact, during that time, Srinivas started his own gym at home. He says it’s small but enough for his needs.
Incidentally, his entire family, his wife, daughter, son, and daughter-in-law, are all fitness freaks, and he shares that they are huge fans of cross-fit. As for himself, he lifts heavy weights for different parts of his body. He is also into a bit of cardio and does treadmill, some cross-training, cycling, and other things. He also takes off on his bike whenever he feels like it, but a recent accident has reduced the frequency.
Srinivas says the gym is his place to vent out his emotions, be it happiness, sadness, anger, or any other. In fact, if he misses out on a session, he confesses he turns grumpy and sulks. However, what’s surprising is that he is not a diet freak. He has his share of proteins and enjoys his chicken, and takes a couple of supplements that are suitable for his age.
Srinivas recently hit the headlines when he won a local fitness and bodybuilding competition. Despite being the ‘fittest’ man in south India, Srinivas says competitions are not his cup of tea and says he has his business to go to after a good workout.
