According to Dr. Srinivasa Rao, Director of Public Health, 92.9% of the people in the state are found to have corona antibodies and the two-dose vaccination is 100 percent complete. "Even if the fourth wave comes, the effect will be small. The new XE variant will be similar to the common cold," he said.
He spoke to the media in Hyderabad on Thursday. "A Sero survey was conducted in the state from January 4 to February 2 under the auspices of the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN). In COVID antibodies, people in Bhadradri Kothagudem district had the lowest at 89.2 percent, followed by Hyderabad at 97 percent. 91.4 percent of those who took a single dose, 96 percent of those who took two doses, and 77 percent of those who did not take the vaccine at all developed the antibodies. The corona is unlikely to reach the fourth stage in this calculated state", Srinivasa Rao said."
The new XE variant has been registered in Delhi and Maharashtra so far. Corona would reach the normal flu stage by December this year. Only then, we can say Corona is over. Until then, people should wear masks and get vaccinated. There is no need for severe restrictions in the current situation but people should follow COVID appropriate behavior," he said.
"Corona cases are on the rise in Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and other states. The central government has alerted all the states in view of this," he added. "The positivity rate in our state is 0.14 percent. The number of daily cases is between 20 and 25. During the month of May, most of the weddings, festivities, excursions, and long trips are usually done. So, people have to be careful. Children over the age of 12 should be vaccinated and those over the age of 60 should be given a booster dose. The state had already written to the Center to allow them to give a free booster dose to those between the ages of 18–59 and that it would be distributed as soon as permission was granted," he further revealed.
